Egyptian security forces have prevented international observers and attorneys from attending fourth military tribunal against 40 MB leaders, including eng. Khairat EL Shater, MB second deputy chairman.
An international human rights delegation including Violet Dagher, ACHR chairperson, and Sameh Khares, Amnesty International Delegate and member of Jordanian Lawyers Syndicate, has attempted to enter the court to supervise trial procedures, but they were denied access.
It is worth mentioning that Egyptian Security forces have always used such policy. Other renowned figures were previously denied access such as former US Attorney General Ramsey Clark, UK journalist Yvonne Ridley, Dr. Haitham Manaa, the deputy chairman of the Arab Organization for Human Rights, Hasiba Haj Sahrawi from Amnesty International, Canadian lawyer Faisal Kouti, famous British Attorney Ali Azhar, and Sir Ivan Lawrence, the former legal advisor of the Queen of England.
Security forces have prevented 120 attorneys as well from entering the courtroom. And only 10 lawyers were allowed to attend, an act which led to a quarrel between both lawyers and security forces.
In a recent statement, Amnesty International has called on the Egyptian Government to permit international observers and NGOs to watch and observe all procedures of military tribunals against MB leaders.
