Tension Rises As Egyptians Protest, Demanding Help For Palestinians

As The number of the detainees at the Egyptian Bar Association demonstration increased to 2000 citizens, several other activities were held across major Egyptian cities demanding help for the Palestinians and an end to the siege imposed by Israel.

As The number of the detainees at the Egyptian Bar Association demonstration increased to 2000 citizens, several other activities were held across major Egyptian cities demanding help for the Palestinians and an end to the siege  imposed by Israel.
In Dmaietta city, north of Cairo, more than 12000 Egyptians demonstrated, denouncing the siege on Gaza and calling on the Egyptian government to open the border crossings and allow for aid to get to the needy, women and children. The demonstrators condemned the way the Egyptian Police dealt with the demonstrators in Cairo before at Bar Association. During the demo, the Committee for Supporting Palestinian People which organized the activity announced it colleced more than 100 ton of rice ready to be shipped across the border to feed the Palestinians in Gaza.

On the other hand, more than 1000 students from the four main universities in Cairo including Cairo, Ain Shams, Al-Azhar, and Helwan Universities, condemned the siege imposed on Gaza Strip and called on the Egyptian government and the International Community to intervene.
Despite the heavy presence by the security forces around Cairo University; there is no reported incidents or confrontations with the students. The demonstration ended with a statement called for the opening of Rafah Crossing and allowing the peoples, especially the Egyptians, to fulfill their duty towards their Palestinian brothers and supply them with their essentials. In addition, they called upon the Egyptian government to supply the Strip with gas and electricity.
