The friends of humanity group has called on the Israeli occupation authority to release the Palestinian human rights activist Ahlam Jawher, who works as a volunteer with the group.

The Vienna-based group in a statement on Saturday said that arresting Jawher, 30, while crossing an IOF roadblock south of Nablus last month constituted an "arbitrary act against Jawher who advocates Palestinian prisoners" rights and publishes their suffering in the media".

The group asked the IOA to stop torturing Jawher and to release her immediately.

The group said that it was concerned over the life of Jawher who is undergoing savage interrogation rounds at the hands of the Israeli Shabak apparatus in Petah Tikwa interrogation center. The group charged that the interrogators were subjecting the human rights activist to physical and psychological pressures.
