Muslim Brotherhood potential candidates who were detained by Egyptian security forces to prevent them from standing elections insist on running for the elections despite their detention, a top Muslim Brotherhood leader said.

Dr. Mohamed Habib, the first deputy chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood, told Ikhwanweb that the MB detained members said that they stick to their constitutional and legal rights and want to take part in the democratic peaceful change and reform process.

"They want to stand elections in a bid to fight the prevalent corruption in the municipal councils, and solve all day-to-day problems facing the Egyptian people who suffer from problems of unemployment, price hikes, diseases, deteriorating education, environmental pollution, housing and transportation and so on", sHabib said.

Meanwhile, there are more nationwide sweeps of arrest against other potential candidates of the group to prevent them from running from these elections scheduled to held next April, 8th.

These detainees started to take the legal procedures required for standing elections while they are behind bars for doing their constitutional rights
