Egyptian authorities arrested several prominent members of the Kefaya reform movement yesterday, including George Ishak, former general co-ordinator, and Fathi Al-Hifnawi, a prominent member of the movement in Gharbiya. Security forces raided their houses detaining them without giving any reasons.

Ishak and Al-Hifnawi appeared today before the State Prosecutor whithout their lawyers who were not allowed to attend the interrogations.

Dr. Mahmoud Ghozlan, member of the Muslim Brotherhood Executive Bureau, confirmed that the Muslim Brotherhood group condemns all the oppressive procedures taken by the Egyptian government against all political activists regardless of their political affiliation.

Ghozlan said that he stands by all political activists who are calling for freedom and fighting to end corruption, and achieve real democracy and justice in Egypt.

It is worth mentioning that Kefaya movement had an important role in the April 6th strike which it helped organizing.
