Mohamed Mahdy Akef; chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood, congratulates the Lebanese on the agreement on national unity that led to the election of Michel Suleiman as a president of the state.
 
"I"ve watched the speech delivered by the new president after the constitutional oath and I do hail the confirmation of the national unity of Lebanon and respect of resistance” Akef said.
 
Akef stressed that the MB supports the Lebanese national unity and also back resistance against the Israeli Occupation Forces.
 
Lebanese parliament has elected Michel Suleiman as a president after having 118 votes out of 127 votes.
 
The election session has been attended by Prince of Qatar and Qatari Premiere, Turkish Premiere, Secretary General of the Arab League, head of the Egyptian PA, head of the Saudi Shura Council, Coordinator General of EU Foreign Policy, foreign ministers of many Arab, Islamic, European, and Asian countries; including ARE, KSA, Syria, Iran, Turkey, UAE, and Bahrain.
 
Head of the Lebanese Parliament; Nabih Berry, has delivered a speech asserting the agreement between the Lebanese people and national unity, then Suleiman took the constitutional oath after which he indicated his efforts for the Lebanese unity and liberation.
 
Fouad Saniorah; Lebanese prime minister, has resigned as a preliminary step towards forming a national unity- based government according to Doha Agreement.
