MB Lawyers Haven’t Decided Yet to Challenge Military Verdicts, Says Attorney

MB Chief Atorney Abdul Moneim Abdel Maksoud said that the decision to challenge the military ruling against MB leaders will be announced by the week of August 25. This will depend on a consensus inside the MB, he told Ikhwanweb.

MB Chief Atorney Abdul Moneim Abdel Maksoud said that the decision to challenge the military ruling against MB leaders will be announced by the week of August 25. This will depend on a consensus inside the MB, he told Ikhwanweb.

 

Abdel Maksoud said there are two opinions that will determine the decision. The first is not to challenge the ruling because of the fact that it will be done before the Higher Emergency Military Court, which is marred by lack of judicial independence that violates the rights of both the defendants and the judge.

 

The second opinion is to challenge the ruling regardless of the Court’s justice. “This will further expose the regime’s injustice that will be recorded in history, which was the only advantage of appearing in Military courts. Those defendants are being tried for crimes they did not commit, and charges that were dropped by civil courts,” Abdel Maksoud told Ikhwanweb.

 

On Wednesday, MB defense team filed a lawsuit against the President’s Amnesty on July 23 that included criminals and drug dealers, but excluded MB detainees and prisoners of conscience, he told Ikhwanweb.

 

“The decision is a sign of the executive’s injustice and lack of transparency. Who is more worthy of amnesty, opinion prisoners or criminals?”
