Chairman of MB Parliamentary Bloc Mohamed El Katatny expressed his deep sorrow and dismay over Tuesday’s blaze that tore through the Shura Council building.

El Katatny said in a press release Wednesday that MB MPs are disappointed at the “careless handling of the crisis” by Egyptian authorities despite the importance of the building.

“The building that went on fire contains the most important documents of Egypt’s Parliamentary history, but efforts to save the building were not equal to the heavy security blockade over the place,” El Katatny said.

El Katatny ruled out criminal causes, but said that it shows “shameful carelessness” by Egyptian authorities and weak crisis management mechanisms.
