The Hesham Mubarak Centre for law and the Legal Support Unit of the ANHRI (The Arabic Network for the Human Rights Information) appealed yesterday to the administrative court challenging the decision made by the counsel and attorney general dated 7/8/08, which prohibits any publicity for the Case no. 249 for the year 2008, which was entitled “The Murder of Suzan Tamim”, and for the other case (no.4 for the year 2008) relating to the extradition of the murderers, and all Egyptian media has been informed of such decision. And also concerning the decision issued on They had challenged the decision under the no. 57169 for the year 62 based on the unconstitutionality of the prohibition decision itself; the decision contradicts the constitution as well as other international laws. The plaintiff supported their case with the article no. 47 from the Egyptian constitution, which affirms the right to the freedom of expression, and also using article 48 which provides for the freedom of the press and the media, and forbidding any news censorship. In addition to that the decision also defies the article no. 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and also the international covenant on civil and political rights, and press freedom. The legal unit of the ANHRI and the centre of Hesham Mubarak for Law call on all civil society NGO’s and all Human rights’ activists to support this appeal to sustain the freedom of expression and the right to knowledge and information circulation. • The Hesham Mubarak Centre for Law • The Legal Support Unit of the Arabic Network for the Human Rights Information (ANHRI).
