South Cairo Court, Constituency (11),  in Al-Tagamoa Al-Khamis district in Cairo outskirts decided to release Hossam Mohamed Hassan (a final year student in Faculty of Islamic Studies) after detaining him for six months during the municipal elections. He was arrested on March 13, 2008 and his arrest was followed by an arrest warrant issued by the Interior Ministry.

Hassan was sent to Wadi Annatroun prison with the prisoners of the municipal elections, but they were all released except for him. The defense has filed 17 grievances to release him including those which were filed to the Attorney General and to Sadat prosecution, but they were all rejected.

All attempts to release him have failed, but only when a grievance and a complaint were filed to Prisoner Affairs, a session was set on
September 14, 2008.

This is considered the first release to Hossam Mohamed Hassan (from the Nile Delta governorate of Ismailiyya), but it is expected that the Interior Ministry will reject the decision and set another session to judge the Interior Ministry’s objection.
