The IOA refused to grant permits to international participants in an academic conference on the psychological impact of the siege to be held at the end of October in the Gaza city under the auspices of Gaza community mental health program (GCMHP).

The conference which the GCMHP intends to hold on the 27th and 28th of this month is considered the fifth and dubbed "Siege and Mental Health… Walls vs. Bridges".

The conference was supposed to host about 120 international participants including experts in mental health, human rights activists and a number of prominent international figures.

The GCMHP strongly denounced the Israeli arbitrary decision to prevent international figures from participating in the conference, saying that this measure is a blatant example of the injustice of the Israeli siege.

The major goal of this conference is to discuss issues related to siege, mental health, and human rights. Furthermore, it aims to help international academics, policy makers, and civil society groups understand the linkage between siege, violence, mental health, and human rights.
