At the Guardian, young Muslim Brotherhood activist Ibrahim Houdaiby writes about the increasing restrictions on free speech in Egypt, both in print and online.

 He notes that the state security apparatus now aggressively monitors and intimidates those who visit opposition websites, and it has made anonymous internet cafe and mobile phone use a thing of the past. He concludes that “whereas the assault on free press may lower the complaining and criticising voices in Egypt, it does absolutely nothing to resolve the epidemic social, economic and political illnesses of the country, which will eventually burst into something no one wants to see.”
