North Cairo Court ordered blogger Mamdouh El Monayyar released today seven months later after arrest.

El Monayyar was detained due to covering the events of April 6th strike in Mahalla El Kubra city of the Nile Delta.

He was ordered released twice by the prosecution; however he reiteratively received arrest warrants after every release decision.

During detainment period, he suffered from severe torture and abuse at the hands of Officer Mohamed Hani; director of State Security Officer of Mahalla.

He was ordered released by North Cairo Court at the 5th Complex district. This release decision supported previous acquittance decisions in favor of El Monayyar.

He is expected to be released within hours.
