Court Adjourns Ruling in Favor of Jailed Muslim Brotherhood Leaders

The Administrative Judiciary Court decided on Tuesday to postpone to January 13 the legal challenge filed by 18 Muslim Brotherhood leaders who received jail sentences by a military tribunal last April after they were acquitted four times by civil courts.

The Administrative Judiciary Court decided on Tuesday to postpone to January 13 the legal challenge filed by 18 Muslim Brotherhood leaders who received jail sentences by a military tribunal last April after they were acquitted four times by civil courts.

The challenge was against the exclusion of MB leaders from the presidential amnesty for prisoners who completed half their jail sentence.

The defense panel said the decision came after the government’s lawyers submitted documents and papers mentioning the reasons for excluding the MB leaders from the President’s order.

MB lawyer Mustafa El Demeri told Ikhwanweb he expects that the ruling in this case will be cancelled in the next session, meaning the case will end without any ruling by the court.

The court has adjourned the case three times before because of receiving no response from the parties against whom the challenge was filed. These are the ministries of Justice, Defense, and Interior, the Military Prosecutor General, the Military Judiciary Administration, the president of the Higher Military Court, and the chief of Torah Farm Prison.
