The Tunisian Renaissance Movement (Muslim Brotherhood) denounced arresting its former leader Al-Sadek Shorow after statements he released saying that he intended to return to his political activity.

The movement called for releasing its former leader and lifting all the harassments that he and his family face because of his decision. It demanded the Tunisian regime to allow prisoners of conscience all their civil and political rights, and called on rights organizations to continue their pressure on the regime to put an end to the suffering of released prisoners.

Shorow was arrested two weeks after his release after 17 years he spent in prisons in which he suffered various forms of torture. He spent 14 years in an isolated cell where he was denied medical treatment, reading, or writing.
