The Palestinian government headed by Ismail Haneyya deplored the statements of Louis Michel, the European commissioner for development, in which he held the Palestinian resistance responsible for the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip as "imprudent remarks".

In a statement, Taher Al-Nunu, the spokesman for the government, said that such statements are blatantly contrary to the international norms and conventions which stress and guarantee the right of occupied people to self-defense against the occupation.

Nunu considered the acquittal of the Israeli occupation of its criminal war against civilians in Gaza, which claimed the lives of more than 1,300 citizens other than thousands of injuries and led to the destruction of 20,000 homes totally or partially, "a bias in favor of the executioner at the expense of the victim".

The spokesman did not rule out that Michel is seeking a new office in an international organization and thus wants to please the Zionist lobby in the US and the international Zionist movement in order to get this position.

Sheikh Nafid Azzam, a senior Islamic Jihad leader, stated Monday that the Palestinian people would never surrender to the international fait accompli and attempts to force them not to defend themselves against the Israeli occupation, condemning also the attempts to magnify the weapons owned by the Palestinian resistance while overlooking the Israeli military arsenal as "great injustice".

"Why does nobody talk about the terrifying arsenal of weapons owned by Israel which is provided with the latest American weapons all the time? This action is certainly evidence of the injustice and the absence of ethics and objectivity from the international policy," Sheikh Azzam said in a statement received by the PIC.
