The number of detainees of in the demonstrations held on Friday in Cairo rose to 70, including 7 from the governorate of Dakahlia and 22 from the Governate of Sharqiya. The detentions took place after the security forces dispersed the demonstration and assaulted and beat the demonstrators who later staged 3 demonstrations in Nasr City attended by 61000 persons.

The demonstrators were calling for lifting the blockade imposed on Gaza Strip and permanently and completely opening Rafah Crossing. Friday"s demonstration came in response to Wednesday call from the Muslim Brotherhood chairman. Mohamed Mahdi Akef called on Muslims to move to foil any possible Zionist aggression on Gaza and to call for lifting the blockade and opening crossings.

In a related context, the State Security Service in Monofiya on Monday issued an arrest warrant against two Monofiya Muslim Brotherhood leaders, Dr. Ahmed Abdul Baset, a physician from El Bajour city, and Saeed Abdul Rahman, a Supply Ministry inspector, from the village Susoud, Minuf. Both of them were moved to Al Abadia prison in Damanhur , in a full disregard to the court ruling ordering them released after ten days of detention.

Both of them were accused of distributing leaflets that call for supporting Gaza Strip and call for ending the blockade and opening Rafah Crossing.

Earlier, elements affiliated to the State Security Service in Sharqiya Governorate last Tuesday arrested Ahmed Al Maghawri from the street and took him to Abu Kabeer police station. His whereabouts are are still unknown. It is worth noting that the security services have been pursuing Al Maghawri due to the pro-Gaza activities that the Muslim Brotherhood has been carrying out during the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian coastal strip.
