MB Vice-Chair Mohamed Habib linked the arrests witnessed yesterday by the MB to Gamal Mubarak’s visit to the U.S., his attempt to get closer to the American administration, and other related issues such as the succession issue in addition to the movement’s efforts to break the siege on Gaza despite its being a moral, patriotic, and religious stance.

Habib emphasized that such behavior harms the reputation and dignity of Egypt and that its a repetition of the despotic approach adopted by the regime with the Egyptian people in general, and the opposition, especially the heart of it, represented by the MB, in particular.

Habib stressed that these detainments were an unacceptable episode in the series of pressuring the movement to give up its efforts in reform, change, and confrontation of the power crisis in Egypt manifested in corruption and despotism.

The Egyptian security apparatus had launched a campaign of arrests yesterday eve against MB affiliates including several leaders and youth from different governorates.
