Administrative Court Refuses Contestation of Transferring Civilians to Military Courts

The Administrative court headed by Judge Mohamed Attia decided today, March 10, to refuse the lawsuit filed by MB Vice-Chair Khairat El-Shater and 17 other MB leaders who were militarily sentenced contesting their transfer as civilians to military courts.

The Administrative court headed by Judge Mohamed Attia decided today, March 10, to refuse the lawsuit filed by MB Vice-Chair Khairat El-Shater and 17 other MB leaders who were militarily sentenced contesting their transfer as civilians to military courts.
 
The court had restored the contestation for defense after reserving it for a ruling and requested its authors to include a copy of the ruling issued on December 27 ordering their release to the case’s documents to be presented on January 13, 2009 which was postponed to January 27 and, again reserved for a ruling to be issued on it in today’s session.
 
The military court Hikestep had sentenced El-Shater to a 7-year prison term and business man Hasan Malik and five other MB leaders including MB Executive Bureau Member Mohamed Ali Bishr to a 5-year prison term on April 15, 2008 while pleading innocent around 15 others after transferring 40 of them to military trials which lasted for two years.
