Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya has asked the new American president Barack Obama to actualize his slogan of "change" and to amend the American policy toward the Middle East in general and the Palestine cause in particular, Taher Al-Nunu, the government spokesman said.

In a press statement late Sunday, Nunu said that the new American administration should not pursue the same policy of former president George Bush.

He asked Washington to open direct and unconditional dialog with Hamas and to discuss differences at the dialog table.

Nunu advised Washington to refrain from the language of threats and the imposition of siege to enforce political positions, adding that his Movement rejects blackmail and won"t bow to dictates.

The spokesman hoped that Obama"s slogan of "change" would take effect soon and that he would embark on positive steps towards Hamas and the Palestine question.
