Egyptian security forces prevented Ikhwanweb Editor-In-Chief Khaled Hamza from traveling to the U.K. for medical treatment this morning, Saturday, April 4.

Hamza said that as he was heading to board the British Airways aircraft after finishing his travel procedures, individuals from the security stopped him and told him that he was banned from travel.

During investigations in the Cairo International Airport, Hamza asked for the reason why he was requested off the plane. The State Security apparatus informed him that he was on the list of those banned from travel because of his affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Ikhwanweb Editor-In-Chief was embarking on a medical trip to London he had planned for weeks ahead.  However, his prevention from travel will make his treatment in Britain a difficult matter.

Khaled Hamza is an Egyptian political activist and the Editor-In-Chief of the MB’s official English website Ikhwanweb.  He had been detained previously for his significant work in the field of human rights in Egypt and his role in revealing police center scandals.  Hamza also plays an effective role in bringing Egyptian bloggers and new generation of youth into the limelight as he is a member of the Paris-based Arab Committee for Human Rights.
