MB, Independent MPs Withdraw From Parliament on “Day of Rage”

MB and Independent MPs announced their participation in the April 6th strike, agreed upon by the majority of political forces in Egypt as an expression of their anger towards the government’s faulty policies and insistence on not changing, by withdrawing from the assembly’s session while the Ministers’ Council Head was delivering his statement.

MB and Independent MPs announced their participation in the April 6th strike, agreed upon by the majority of political forces in Egypt as an expression of their anger towards the government’s faulty policies and insistence on not changing, by withdrawing from the assembly’s session while the Ministers’ Council Head was delivering his statement.

 

In their statement today, the MPs expressed that people have become fed up with the emergency situation that has continued for 28 years now, the widespread corruption in the state’s pillars, soaring prices, unemployment, increasing spinsterhood, monopolies, and graveyard and slum-dwelling.

 

The MPs also affirmed that people have become sick of the continuous violations of human rights, confiscation of thought, random detentions and military trials, coercive disappearance and fatal torture, and the halt of civil society institutions including professional associations, societies, political parties, and student and labor unions, which led to a state of congestion, in fact, unprecedented political blockage.

 

“The time has come for the people of Egypt to live in dignity and freedom, and fully enjoy their constitutional rights,” the MPs said in their statement.
