The security apparatus arrested a number of student leaders in Ain Shams University including commerce student Ahmed Abdel-Mon’em Abul-Futuh,  Ahmed Samir, an activist in the Student’s Rights Defense Committee, and April 6 movement activists Mohamed Hegazy and Ahmed Samir.

Furthermore, police detained Al-Masry Al-Youm photographer Husam Fadl and assaulted other journalists and photographers to prevent coverage of the students’ April 6 events.  Students were also assaulted by bullies who caused injuries and bruises in several of them, a matter which forced the students to carry their demonstration to the university’s Education faculty gate.

In Zaqazeeq University, security forces arrested a number of Ghad party activists including Mohamed Abdurrahman and Mohamed Yusuf in addition to imposing a siege on the university to prevent any on-campus events in response to April 6th movement’s call for declaring rage.
