The state security forces arrested on Monday at dawn March, 26, 2007 , two aides of MP Magdi Ashour who are responsible for offices serving citizens; they were taken to an undisclosed place.

The two detainees are: Said Ali, the manger of Ashour’s office for serving citizens in Birkat Al-Hajj and Mohamed Mofid Ahmed who is living in Birkat Al-Hajj.

For his part, Magdi Ashour, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood parliamentary bloc, told Ikhwanweb that the regime’s detention of his office managers is part of its scheme to prevent the Muslim Brotherhood from serving or contacting people .

Ashour added that this move confirms that the Egyptian regime plans to bloc the presence of any political power or activity opposing it even if it is within a legitimate and legal framework, like the contacts with MPs with residents of their constituencies to serve them.

Ashour pointed out that the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP) does not want to embarrass its MPs, specially that most of these MPs do not offer any service to the public .

These detentions are part of a fierce security crackdown that included arresting a big number of office manager of MPs and previous MB candidates in 2005 legislative elections, while the Shura Council elections scheduled next April are close .
