The Mauritanian ruling Junta belongs to a coupist stage and it must step down", said Mauritanias Muslim Brotherhood leader.
Mohamed Jemil Weld Mansour, head of the Islamic-leaning National Gathering for Reform and Development- Muslim Brotherhood offshoot in Mauritania- and coming presidential candidate, said:" This Junta is an instrument of the coupist stage. We reached a consensus in which we wanted to return to constitutional life and legitimacy. Mohamed Jemil Weld Mansour, head of the Islamic-leaning National Gathering for Reform and Development- Muslim Brotherhood offshoot in Mauritania- and coming presidential candidate, said:" This Junta is an instrument of the coupist stage. We reached a consensus in which we wanted to return to constitutional life and legitimacy. Hereby, we aim to sidestep such a crisis  but without violating the military institution which we all fully respect. We are actually talking about a coupist stage that must come to an end and reach a constitutional stage.
 
In the same context, the National Gathering for Reform and Development declared naming its leader, Mohamed Jemil Weld Mansour, as its presidential candidate for the up-coming presidential elections in Mauritania . The party commented in a statement that fielding Weld Mansour will add to the national efforts exerted to restore democracy and will be a chance to offer the party"s platform to the Mauritanian people who crave for reform and development.
 
The statement issued by the National Gathering for Reform and Development said that following
-         A thorough analysis of the political positions
-         Wide-scale consultation with the party"s supporters
 
It decided to:

Nominate party chairman Mohamed Jemil Weld Mansour, as its presidential candidate for the up-coming presidential elections, which we view as:
-     Enhancing the national efforts exerted to restore democracy.
-         A chance to offer the party"s platform to the Mauritanian people who crave for reform and development.
-         An occasion for  positive contact with various national and political powers and national partners in a way that serves the higher interests of our homeland.
