Hearings began today in the Cairo court with the sessions that were postponed in August for the appeals challenging the judicial court ruling. The appeals called for the release of 13 of the Muslim Brotherhood leaders two of whom were court martialed. The detainees have spent three-quarters of their sentence and were entitled releases according to law.

Once again, the session was delayed for another hearing dated September 9.

Mamdouh Ahmed Abul Mo'ty Husseiny (Engineer) and Dr Essam Hashish (Professor at the faculty of Engineering) were among those detained.

On another note the attorney general in Qena decided on renewing the detention of Emad Abbas Alsaman and Ashraf Thabet Ahmed who were arrested last August 18 after their houses were raided. They are to be detained a further 15 days pending investigations.
