![]() Zakareya: Postponing of school year demonstrates once again the ruling party's extreme negligence

MP Ibrahim Zakareya Younes, a member of the MB Parliamentary bloc and Education Committee in Parliament, denounced the government's sudden decision to postpone the beginning of the school year another week. Schools and universities are to open October 3 instead of September 26. After meeting with Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif, and conservatives, Dr. Magdy Rady, spokesman for the Council of Ministers, alleged that the postponements were precautionary measures deemed necessary "for the well being of the public." He asserted that the methods taken were to ensure the large number of people returning from "Omra" (rituals performed by Muslims at Mecca) arrived safe and healthy and free from the H1N1 virus, commonly referred to as the Swine flu.
In his statement to the Parliament.com the MP described this decision as unnecessary, saying that it will corrupt and destroy the education process. Zakareya continued: “We agree that preventative measures are necessary to avoid wide spread infection however postponing the school year a week hardly seems to be the appropriate way in dealing with the illness." Zakareya ascertained that the disease is not as widely spread as the government alleges. He accused the ruling government in neglecting its duty and creating needless chaos. Negligence in which once again the public pay the price.
