Palestinian permier Ismail Haneyya stated Friday that the real battle of the Aqsa Mosque has started, calling on the Arab and Muslim nations to assume their religious and moral responsibility in defense of the Aqsa Mosque.

In a statement he made following Friday prayers, Haneyya warned that the Israeli occupation is carrying out a comprehensive scheme aimed to fully seize the Aqsa Mosque, noting that what is happening in Jerusalem nowadays is more dangerous than the risks used to be in the holy city during the past decades.

“We cannot relinquish our Mosque or give away our Jerusalem; we will sacrifice every precious and priceless thing in order to keep the Aqsa Mosque protected and a safe sanctuary for everyone entering it despite the crimes committed by the occupation,” the premier highlighted.

In another context, premier Haneyya met Thursday Daniel Ruch, the special representative of Switzerland in the Middle East, and discussed with him, the relationship between the two countries, the inter-Palestinian reconciliation and the decision to delay Goldstone’s report.

He expressed his appreciation to the Swiss government as one of the countries that respected the results of the Palestinian elections and expressed its rejection of the Israeli siege and war on Gaza.
