AMMAN, (PIC)-- The speaker of the Palestinian legislative council, Dr. Aziz Dweik has denied telling the press that he expected Hamas to sign the Egyptian reconciliation paper by end of this month.

He told Jordanian weekly Assabeel on Friday that his statement was clear mainly that Hamas had certain reservations regarding the Egyptian document and asked for amendments to certain procedural issues.

Dweik underlined that he was supportive of reconciliation and national agreement to end the internal rift, but in the event Mahmoud Abbas insisted on resigning he (Dweik) would be obliged to chair the PA for 60 days after which new elections would be organized according to the constitution.
