CAIRO -- The emergency and relief committee of the Arab Doctors’ Union (ADU) has revealed that the Egyptian authorities would allow the entry of 200 tons of canned meat donated by charitable societies in the Arab world into the besieged Gaza Strip during Eid Al-Adha.

In a statement he issued Thursday in this regard, Ibrahim Al- Za’afarani, the secretary-general of the committee, said that Egypt has also agreed to allow 700 school bags donated by a charity in Kuwait to enter Gaza Strip.

In this regard, Za’afarani urged the Egyptian people, companies, and charitable organizations to support such projects in order to alleviate the suffering of their besieged Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip.

Egypt had earlier approved the entry of 1000 goats in addition to 150 calves from the Arab and Egyptian Adahi to distribute them on Palestinian families in the Strip.

For more than three years now, Egypt has refused repeated Palestinian appeals to open the vital Rafah crossing point between Gaza Strip and Egypt despite the Israeli siege on the rest of the Strip that brought adverse repercussions on the 1.5 million Palestinian citizens living there.
