MP Tamer Ashour, of the Muslim Brotherhood Parliamentary bloc, submitted a request for information to the Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry regarding the declining quality in the spinning and weaving industry.

Ashour stressed that the spinning and weaving sector has been subjected to negligence and corruption caused by the biggest manufacturers. The industry's level has completely collapsed in recent years after production has declined and employees dismissed.

He criticized the deliberate negligence in most of the government owned companies whether in the collection of all its dues or protecting its raw materials, equipment and machinery. He alleged that all this was in preparation for selling or privatizing at the lowest prices.

The MP explained that the government has wasted public funds emphasizing that the Spinning and Weaving Company in Daqahleya governorate has suffered deep corruption aimed at its destruction in order to be privatized, despite the fact that it was a very successful company.
