Released prisoner insists on visiting the Aqsa Mosque before his family

Jerusalemite ex-prisoner Ali Shalade, who was released from Israeli occupation jails on Tuesday after 20 years of captivity, insisted on visiting the Aqsa Mosque before heading to his family home.

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM,- Jerusalemite ex-prisoner Ali Shalade, who was released from the Israeli's occupation jails on Tuesday after 20 years of incarceration, insisted on visiting the Aqsa Mosque before heading to his family home.

The Palestinian prisoner's association reported that Shalade was arrested in 1989 on anti-occupation resistance charges and has since then been in various Israeli occupation jails.

Shalade, 62, expressed his absolute pleasure for visiting the Aqsa Mosque and praying there, adding that he feels that he was "born anew".

The Israeli's prison authorities refused to release Shalade on parole six years ago despite spending two thirds of his sentence and his worsening health condition, which had prompted doctors at Ramle prison hospital to recommend his release.

Ex-prisoner and specialist on prisoners' affairs Abdul Nasser Farwana stated that approximately 14% of Jerusalem's prisoners are elderly citizens some of which are women.
