Prosecution decided to close the cases as they were not referred to court after the prosecution's interrogation ended. However this was not applicable to the cases which were referred to military tribunals.

The source asserted that these cases which included approximately 10 000 defendants were left open indefinitely. Prosecution was prompted to close the cases since they were not referred to court.

Abdul Monem Abdul Maqsod, the MB top lawyer denied that the prosecution's decision and the release of the Muslim Brotherhood members were a result of an arrangement between the government and the opposition group

He attributed the decision to the just Egyptian Judicial system which was responsible for ordering the release of a  large number of innocent MB members.
