Defense lawyers filed an appeal challenging detention orders against MB Executive member Dr. Saad Elewa.Tight security has been stationed outside his hospital room where he still remains despite recommendations that he needs much rest and a heart procedure.
The detainee's family was only permitted one visit despite his illness. Defense lawyers will be calling on prosecutors to order "house arrest" since they believed it would be a lighter form of confinement guaranteeing that he was a respectable law abiding individual.
Dr. Elewa was among the recently arrested senior MB leaders who were hauled in by the state security in the ruling regime's effort to stem attempts of parliament election participation.
He has been added to case no. 202 for year 2010. Those arrested have so far reached 28 and it is expected this number may rise. |
