Unofficial results reveal moderates sweeping Jordan's MB elections
According to sources, the doves are likely to claim victory in decisive elections at the Islamic Action Front (IAF), MB in Jordan after informal results revealed them winning a clear majority of the party’s shura (consultative) council seats.

Sources at the IAF confirmed that the doves, who oppose the party's ties to Hamas and want it to adopt more moderate positions, won nearly 65 per cent of the seats, awaiting results in two branches. However, officials from the party said they favored not to declare a win on the part of any group until the official results are announced by the executive office, which met to examine the procedures. IAF official Ahmad Abu Eish said elections at two branches have been postponed until next week after results showed a tie between rivals in Kufranja and a lack of quorum in Amman’s First District. “We are waiting for the meeting of the executive office to study the results and what happened in each branch regarding procedures and the voting process,” Abu Eish told The Jordan Times. Most leading figures of the party made it to the council, including Salem Falahat, former overall leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, and Hamzeh Mansour, who is currently serving as the party’s shura council president. Other winners include former MPs Ali Abul Sukkar, Tayseer Fityani, Abdul Latif Arabiyat, Mohammad Abu Fares and other top leaders from the Brotherhood. IAF sources said several names are being floated to fill the sensitive post, with Falahat mentioned as a candidate with the strongest chances. Last week, the IAF rejected claims of “intentional irregularities” in voter registration prior to the polls. The party has been deeply divided between the hawk camp, which favours stronger ties with the Palestinian Islamist group, and doves, who wish to sever the party's links with Hamas. Ishaq Farhan took over as IAF secretary general last year on a temporary basis to pave the way for elections, after which the Islamist movement hopes to settle differences between the feuding factions.
