An urgent early day motion was submitted in Parliament today by Dr. Mohammed Fadl, from the Muslim Brotherhood Movement. The deputy representing Fuwa and Motobos in Kafr El-Sheik questioned the Interior Minister about the kidnapping of 14 Imams by State security officers on February 24 who were taken to an unknown destination. The kidnapped men were seized by security apparatus and to date no details of there whereabouts have been disclosed, they have not appeared before prosecution. Fadl established that the arrested men have been dismissed from their jobs since no official documents have been submitted to inform of their arrest. Moreover, security service agents have refused to reveal to their relatives and lawyers any information raising concerns of their well-being. Some of the prisoners are in fact unwell and need medical attention. Fadl strongly condemned the Ministry of Endowment and the Azhar institution stressing that extreme neglect was illustrated since nothing had been done to inquire into the missing men who are Imams appointed by the Endowment Ministry. Dr. Fatthy Sorour the People's Assembly speaker acknowledged the motion and referred it to the Human Rights Commission, which is scheduled to discuss the issue at, next Wednesday's meeting. |
