Press conference Bill announced The press conference which was scheduled yesterday by Muslim Brotherhood members of parliament and opposition movements including "Kefaya"  witnessed the participation   of over one hundred opposition and independent members of the People's Assembly. The bill which was submitted on Sunday to People's Assembly Speaker Fathi Sorour announced a draft law on political rights.

The conference was held to announce the request presented by opposition for the amendment of article 73 calling for free, fair and transparent elections in addition to completely entrusting the electoral procedure to judiciary. Under their supervision the judiciary would be responsible for checking the voters' list, the polling process and announcing results.

MP Hamdi Hassan stated that if in fact the bill which is composed of eight chapters and 94 articles is approved citizens will be able to vote using their national identity cards, in addition to enabling   Egyptians abroad to vote

 MP Gamal Zahran an Independent asserted  that, according to the People's Assembly's bylaws, the bill must be discussed

Chancellor Mahmoud el-Khodeiry,  founder of Egyptians for Elections Characterized by Freedom and Integrity affirmed that  the new law will help form a stronger and more efficient  People's Assembly since  members will be  elected in candidly held elections.
