RAMALLAH, -- The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) suppressed Palestinian citizens and foreign activists in a number of Ramallah villages during peaceful rallies they held after Friday prayers on their lands in protest at the segregation wall and the policy of settlement expansion.

In the villages of Ni’lin and Bil’in west of Ramallah, dozens of citizens suffered tear gas suffocation and many others sustained minor injuries during their participation in the weekly anti-wall protests.

Dozens of peace activists also participated in the protests and chanted slogans calling for peace and the removal of the apartheid wall built on lands owned by Palestinians. One of the activists was reportedly arrested during the clashes in Bil’in village

Secretary-general of the Palestinian national initiative Dr. Mustafa Al-Barghouthi, who participated in the Bil’in march, reported that the protesters broke the Israeli declaration which considered the perimeter of the wall in Bil’in a closed military zone and managed to reach the wall and raise the Palestinian flags over it.

In the village of Nabi Saleh, northwest of Ramallah, the IOF troops also fired tear gas grenades and rubber bullets at Palestinian citizens who gathered in their lands that settlers try to appropriate by force.

Eyewitnesses said that the villagers went after Friday prayers to their lands to defend them against confiscation attempts, but the IOF troops attacked them and tried to get them out of their lands by force, the thing which led to the injury of a Palestinian by Israeli gunfire and caused dozens of tear gas suffocation cases.
