Downtown Cairo witnessed developed tensions between Egyptian State security and political activists. Protestors rallied in front of the Shura Council with the intent to rally peacefully calling for the amendment of the constitution. At least 50 activists were brutally hauled in by forces, and photographers and journalists were prevented from documenting the clashes.

Similar incidents also took place in Talaat Harb Square with forces surrounding opposing Ghad Party's leader Ayman Nour and other activists imposing tight security cordons around the premises.
