Health discussions in parliament became heated after MP Farid Ismail from the MB parliamentary bloc, accused health Minister Hatem el-Gabaly, of favoring private hospitals over public ones. THE MB described the action as 'provoking' to the poorer citizens who could not afford treatment in the private hospitals. He stressed that it was unfair that the privileged and well-off citizens received medical attention abroad while the poorer people were struggling hinting at Finance Minister Yusef Butrus Ghali.

These allegations prompted PA Speaker to threaten to adjourn the meeting.  The Health Minister argued that it was the ministry's policy to provide equal medical care to all citizens. He added that any other claims were unsubstantiated
