Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil, one of Hamas's leaders, said that there were no new Arab initiatives or moves concerning the Palestinian reconciliation, adding that the issue was frozen at present. He said in a press statement on Tuesday that there were active Arab efforts before the Arab summit in Libya, and inter-Palestinian meetings were held separately but none of those efforts or meetings had resulted in any worthwhile outcome. Discussions in those meetings did not succeed in setting guarantees for success of any future reconciliation and could not reach formulas that would take into consideration Hamas's remarks on the Egyptian proposed reconciliation agreement, which are important for its success, he elaborated. Bardawil said that the meeting between Khaled Mishaal, Hamas's supreme leader, and Amr Mousa, the Arab League secretary general, a few days ago was short and did not end up in any result. |
