Islamonline workers protest and demand pay
Journalists ousted from the Qatar-based news website Islam Online (IOL) rallied in front of the Qatari Embassy in the Mohandeseen district in Cairo on Wednesday.

The protestors were demanding their belated salaries which have been withheld since April. They also called for rights as workers where they claimed their dismissal was purely out of spite.

The group had engaged in numerous open-ended strikes against the Media International Company, which had decided to move the entire websites headquarters to Doha without former notice. An agreement had been made by the Egyptian Ministry of manpower and the Qatari administration, to pay the workers their due however to date only 79 have been paid their salaries.

Adel el-Qadi, deputy chief editor at IOL's Cairo office, stressed that the employees would continue to protest if the Qatari ambassador continued to ignore their appeals. Describing the pay delays as failing to portray Islam's moderate and just image
