The Minister maintained that Security services will legally adhere to its authorized role in procedures concerning the Shura Council mid-term elections without interference. However, to date security forces have launched mass arrests within the ranks of the Muslim Brotherhood candidates and their supporters depriving them of their constitutional and legal right in campaigning

Al-Adly also confirmed that discussions took place with members of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the presence of the First Assistant Minister of Interior for Public Security Sector. They discussed the safety and security measures in preparation for the elections to be held early next month

In an exclusive statement to http://www.nowabikhwan.com/, Diab questioned "What exactly would be defined as illegal to the Minister since in fact the security apparatus was engaged in seizing political detainees campaigning for MB candidates. He referred to the assurances as baseless and fabricated lies
