Palestinian captive at risk of losing eyesight

A Palestinian human rights organisation concerned with the issue of Palestinian captives in Israeli jails said that Majdi Hammad from Jablya refugee camp is at risk of completely losing his eyesight.

RAMALLAH, A Palestinian human rights organisation concerned with the issue of Palestinian captives in Israeli jails said that Majdi Hammad from Jablya refugee camp is at risk of completely losing his eyesight.

The Prisoners Studies Centre said that Hammad who is detained since 1991 and who is serving six life sentences has already lost sight in one of his eyes and his other eye is deteriorating and he could lose sight in the other eye too, because of the deliberate medical neglect in Israeli jails.

Chairman of the centre Ra'fat Hamdouna called on human rights organisations to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to provide the necessary medical treatment to save Hammad's eyesight.
