They claimed that their NDP party was guilty of "treason and corruption," asserting their seats were given to the opposition to maintain a facade of democracy. They described the election as premeditated threatening that it will not pass easily Frustrated member, Ahmed Salem, and former MP vowed he would burn his NDP membership card in public The NDP members asserted that they may follow legal channels and challenge the decisions stressing that it was evident that nearly all of the ballots had been fixed in favor of the regimes favorites
