The secretary general had been summoned by the Prosecutor general with 4 other international MB members including Saudi national Awad Alqarany on fabricated money laundering charges. In fact the defendants have been previously acquitted numerous times. Others charged include Wagdy Ghoneim, Ashraf Abdul Ghafar and currently detained in an Egyptian prison Ossama Suleiman.

No decision will be announced however before Mounir discusses the issue with human rights organizations based in Europe . He has been residing in London after receiving asylum from the authorities since Egyptian security previously threatened his life. If decided, he will be traveling to Egypt as a British citizen provided with the essential personal protection.
