Tadamun: Special police unit raids cells of female captives at Damoun prison
Tadamon Institute for Human Rights said that a special Israeli police unit raided the cells of Palestinian female captives at the Damoun prison a few days ago and searched the cells and the captives in a barbaric manner.

Researcher Ahmad al-Beitawi of the Tadamon Institute said that the captives were surprised by the raid carried out by Dror unit of the Shabas, which a unit that specialises in searching convicted criminals for drugs and other illegal materials. The raid took place at 9:00am and lasted till 3:00 pm were the units officers searched the cells of the captives while the captives stood in a corner facing the wall with their hands up. He added that officers broke and damaged belongings of the captives and the cell search was ended with the 17 captives ordered out of the cells were they underwent a strip search. Amnah Mona, the head of female captives, denied the excuses made by the prison authority that they were searching for mobile phones pointing out that the aim of all of this was to humiliate, terrorize and psychologically torture the female captives at Damoun. She called on human rights organisations to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to stop the practice of the humiliating strip searches in its jails. |
