Police sources refuted  the allegations asserting that Mohamed Salah Mahmoud, 18 year old driver, jumped out of the fourth floor window in the station  after being arrested for failure to present proper driver license during police crackdown on undocumented drivers.

However, a statement issued revealed that Mahmoud, who made his living as a driver, had picked up the two officers from the Beni Abid police station  where he was later arrested. Police officers allegedly beat and tortured him before throwing him out of the balcony, the statement added.

Mahmoud was transported to El-Salam Hospital in Mansoura where a preliminary medical report indicated that Mahmoud suffered from a brain concussion, internal bleeding and fractures to his knee, leg, pelvis, arm and skull.
