KHAN YOUNIS, --Farra returned to the Gaza Strip on Sunday afternoon via the Rafah land port from Europe after his historic visit of a number of European countries, in what is considered the first of its kind for the first mayor appointed by the Palestinian government in Gaza since the imposition of the siege almost four years ago. Farra, in a press statement issued by the public relations department of the Khan Younis municipality, affirmed that his tour included visits to Greece, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, and Italy, in a contribution to break the siege on the Gaza Strip, in addition to highlighting the scale of suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip as a result of the continued blockade. Farra, during his interviews, which included a wide range of all official, public, institutional, political, and partisan levels in European countries, stressed the importance of the international community, and particularly Europe, in putting pressure on Israel in order to end the siege on Gaza, which suffers badly from Israeli attacks that have affected all walks of Palestinian life. |
