Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad and visiting Turkish foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu have called for "additional efforts" to end the siege on Gaza Strip that has been enforced for almost four years.

The official Syrian news agency SANA said that both leaders stressed the importance of having an international probe in to the Israeli massacre aboard the Freedom Flotilla.

They were in agreement over the importance of an independent international investigation into the crime committed by Israel against unarmed civilians on board the flotilla, SANA elaborated.

It said that they advocated Palestinian national unity in its capacity as the guarantor for the Palestinian people's struggle for regaining usurped rights.

They also said that the Middle East peace process was stalled due to the aggressive practices of the fanatic government in Israel.
